STOP!! You need this incredible Mongolian ground beef sauce on your dinner menu right now!! This savoury sauce is so easy to create and is packed with amazing flavours.
The first time I tasted Mongolian Beef was when a friend ordered take out for me from this sketchy asian restaurant in Toronto.OMO! I fear ooh but what’s that thing they say? beggars can’t be choosers… my longer throat no gree me, so I accepted the kind gesture.
I still remember my first bite you guys! No..no.. let me start with the aroma of the sauce. From the aroma alone I knew that they were about to make an asian food junkie out of me.
Secondly, the taste! Nothing reduces a foodies anxiety like nicely cooked beef, it wasn’t too soft and it wasn’t too hard, not too salty , not too sweet…my only problem was that there wasn’t any pepper but I could tolerate that …a bit.

This Mongolian Beef recipe was super impromptu…
Fastfoward to the present day, I had minced beef in my fridge, some potatoes and the will of man because the lord knows my pockets don’t always match my appetite- student life. ooh well… I appreciate these rare moments because it allows me to be creative. Of course this recipe isn’t the gon gon Mongolian Beef recipe but… it draws its inspiration from it and IT’S SUPER DELICIOUS!
I used to be one of those people that would buy minced meet and completely forget about it. I didn’t understand the versatility of what I was handling. Ground beef can be used for meat pie, Nigerian style chilli and my personal go-to Spaghetti Bolognese– of course!
I try to post what I enjoy eating as a nigerianfoodie. The best part is that I get to share it with you and hopefully you enjoy it as much as I do! Grab the recipe, go shopping and lets start cooking.
P.s if you try this recipe at home, remember to tag me @nigerianfoodiehub on instagram so that I get to see it and I add you to my cabinet of honourable foodies.
